Usages & tips

Some Secrets for using Oxos in Food.

Firstly, it is ideal for using in salads with tomatoes or cabbage etc.  It adds a new dimension to eating raw vegetables. It is also perfect for using with roast vegetables such as mushrooms, red peppers etc, when a small quantity is drizzled onto the vegetables after cooking. It is also suitable as an accompaniment with certain cheese such as anthotyro, by drizzling a small quantity onto the cheese. Generally speaking Oxos is perfect for using with salads and raw or roasted vegetables. It can considerably decrease one’s use of salt.

Cooking with Oxos:

Cooked Oxos (Vinegar) can be used in many recipes, and can give much better results than usual vinegar does. It is ideal for use in sauces, after cooking it can be used with sautéed meat to seal the flavour, and it is perfect for marinating meat and fish. It is ideal for cooking fish, particularly frozen fish or soft textured and neutrally flavoured fish or fish grown in fish farms. Garnishing with Oxos enhances the flavour and firms the flesh of the fish.

One of the basic advantages of using Oxos, compared with balsamic vinegars, is that it does not have the intensely sweet flavour that balsamic vinegars have, and therefore it does not give a sweet taste to the food. It is advantageous to use Oxos because even although it is made by boiling grape must, this process does not lead to a high degree of condensation, contrary to what usually happens in the Italian process. In spite of this, our Oxos is normal vinegar, which can be used in the whole gastronomic spectrum and not only in certain sweet-sour dishes where the use of Balsamico is recommended.

Oxos & Health

Apart from the other beneficial attributes that vinegar in general has for our health, Oxos has additional advantages because of the unique (patented) method of its production. Oxos contains polyphenols, many more than any red wine. As it is well known polyphenols are powerful antioxidants and research has proved that they decrease the danger of cardiovascular diseases. In addition Oxos contains many yeast autolysis products such as amino acids, peptides, nucleic acids, vitamins etc. Finally Oxos contains large amounts of metals and trace elements which are contained in the skins and seeds of grapes e.g. potassium, iron, magnesium phosphorous etc. And like vinegar in general, it can be as a weight loss aid.
